Hello everybody and welcome to Module 3 of your TEFL course. For this part of the process, we are going to focus on some very important aspects of your professional practice as teachers: Curriculum and Material Design.
I was thinking about the different kinds of teachers and started thinking that this in a way can be related to my nursing profession. You have different types of nurses as well and they fit into alot of the same categories and I think at one point in my nursing career I have been most of these. I started thinking that perhaps once I start teaching I will also at times be many of these types of teachers. I do not think its fair to say that one style is better than the other because alot has to do with your class and your personality.
I think a teacher plays as an actor,an orchestral conductor and a gardener. We are always on stage, we conduct and we must plant the seeds and watch them grow carefully. A teacher can be all these 5 styles, depending on the learners, the enviroment or social context and the learning needs. As teachers we must expect the unexpected and we have to be ready for anything that comes up in classroom,no single day will be the same, because at the end we must always remember we are working with human beings.
Stephanie you are right about no two days being the same. And as teachers we have to be flexible. And dealing with human beings is the hardest job their is in my opinion.
I like what you girls have commented! I also think that being all those different kinds of teachers, is not only necessary and spontaneous but it is also beneficial for both teacher and student because teachers can find out what works better with his/her students and one of the things I remember the most about the last module is that after all, teachers benefit hugely from constant questioning about what they do and the way they do it. And as Stephanie said, students are going to enjoy of a teacher that takes their different needs into account and who doesn't always act the same, so there's also variety
It is important to note that we are human beings who feel and have problems . sometimes we will be every kind of teacher shown above and no matter how we are affected by our emotions must always come up with the best attitude due to they are always what as a teacher gives them. i think planning is the key because you always have a pillar where you can work, no matter whether you are a experimented teacher or not. you always look like you are prepared and also that you care what you are doing and you like to be there trying to transmit your knowledge.
